Star Spangled Salute: “One Hell Of A Patriot”

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Veteran Bob Otto.  56 combat missions in the cockpit of his Douglas B-26 Invader in the Korean War, 30 years as a classroom teacher, he was a rifle coach, a great friend to many, called “One Hell of a Patriot” and a humble man.  However, Bob was better known over the years for his playing of “Taps” at Veteran funerals.  Bob volunteered and played that final musical goodbye over 5,000 times.  Now, it will be played by another because with his son by his side, Bob passed away a few days ago at the age of 98.  Of Bob, people say he was a natural leader who led an incredibly selfless life.  Thank you Bob for your gifts and your service.
