Kansas National Guard says reports of mobilization are false

The Kansas National Guard says there have been false reports and rumors on social media that the Guard is being mobilized to enforce a national quarantine.

The reports say the Department of Homeland Security will call for the mobilization, but the Kansas Guard says the department does not have the authority to give such an order, and there have been no discussions of a national quarantine.   President Trump has said he is not considering a national shutdown.

The Kansas Guard says there are 72 Guardsmen on active duty status supporting the COVID-19 response, and they have been helping with warehouse operations, commodity distribution, planning, and other functions.   They have also helped to staff the State Emergency Operations Center.

The Guard is using the hashtags #KSRumorWatch, #SpreadFactsNotFear, and #StoptheRumors to get the word out on social media about the false reports.
