Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors 99-year old World War II Veteran Mickey Nelson. Mickey, who lives in Minnesota, was inspired by Tom Moore of England who walked 100 laps in his garden to celebrate his 100th birthday and raised over $30 Million dollars. Well, Mickey is quite a few steps further. Instead of laps he is going to walk miles as his 100th birthday approaches on the 27th of this month. Calling it, “Walking to 100”, Mickey has raised over $42,000 and counting, all which will go to the Salvation Army’s feeding and emergency programs. Thank you Mickey for your dedication and thank you for your service.
