Star Spangled Salute: A Veteran Melts His Shoes

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Marine Veteran Todd Winn.  Todd is a two-time Purple Heart recipient and the other day he took a stand to silently protest the killing of George Floyd and to stand in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.  Todd stood outside the Utah State Capitol building on Friday for 3 full hours in his dress uniform in 100 degree heat.  He had a piece of black tape over his mouth with the words “I Can’t Breathe” written across it and he held a sign that read, “Justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, and countless others.”  He refused water, stood silently or keeled silently but never left his post.  He stood there so long, Todd melted the heels off his shoes. Thank you Todd for your determination and thank you for your service.
