Sedgwick County is still looking for people to participate in a random sample study for COVID-19.

The county has been calling people at random to ask if they will undergo nasal swab testing.  The goal is to have 1,400 participants, but less than 100 have signed up so far.

The testing will identify residents with an active coronavirus infection on the day the swab was collected.  It will not determine whether a person was previously infected with the virus and has recovered.

Residents who choose to participate will be asked to provide basic information and then a time will be scheduled for sampling.

The county on Monday reported 896 cases of coronavirus, and the number of deaths remains at 25.  The county reports 595 people have recovered and at least 24,407 residents have been tested.
