The Wichita Police Department is still looking into the disappearance and death of 23-year-old Savannah Schneider, but they say her death was not a homicide.

Schneider went missing on May 31st, from her home near 13th and Maize. Her body was found by a group of volunteers on June 13, who searched an area south of Haysville where Schneider’s phone had pinged. Police had previously searched the area but did not find anything.

Police say Schneider had taken a Lyft to the area where she disappeared, which was near 79th and Meridian. Phone records show she walked around the area for at least two hours after being dropped off. Schneider’s body was found near railroad tracks, but police say she had no traumatic injuries at all, and there were no signs of struggle or that she had anything stolen. Investigators are hoping toxicology reports will help them understand what happened.

Investigators are also reiterating that Schneider’s death is not at all connected to the death of Shalan Gannon, who was found dead in the Ninnescah River, close to Peck, on June 7. People had suggested the cases may be related because both women were found near the same railroad track, but investigators are sure there is no connection.
