Sedgwick County reported over 1,000 calls to the non-emergency fireworks hotline during the first days of July. The hotline was open for noise and fireworks complaints to take pressure off the 911 number. The county had extra staff on hand to man the 911 and non-emergency lines.
The non-emergency line had a total of 1,075 calls during the times it was in operation, with July 4th as the busiest day. The 911 number had a total of 4,094 calls.
