Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors music legend Charlie Daniels. Charlie Daniels the musician was also a major supporter of Veterans most of his life.  Charlie was no stranger to performing for American troops around the world but he also helped create a Veterans center at Middle Tennessee State University. In 2010 Charlie released a collection of patriotic songs called “Land That I Love”.  In 2007 he was awarded the Office of the secretary of Defense Medal of Exceptional Public Service award.  He also received the AmVet Silver Helmet award from AmVets, an organization started by World War II veterans.  Just a few months ago, Charlie and the Journey Home Project teamed up with the non-profit, Code of Vets, to help Veterans during the pandemic.  Thank you Charlie Daniels, your music and your patriotism will be missed.
