Harvey County confirming COVID cluster

The Harvey County Health Department has confirmed a cluster of COVID cases at the Schowalter Villa retirement home in Hesston.

Seven employees tested positive for the virus, but no residents have been found to have it. Out of the infections, three employees did not show symptoms and two have met the criteria for recovery. The other five employees are isolating.

This is the first COVID cluster identified in Harvey County. Schowalter Villa and health officials will keep an eye on resident health.

Seven other COVID cases not tied to the cluster were also confirmed. The following details were released:

· A female in her 50s. She is a close contact of a known active case.

· A female in her 30s. She is a close contact of a known active case.

· A female in her 30s. She was in contact with another individual with COVID-19 in another county. She has already met recovery criteria.

· A female between 10-and-19 years old. She is a close contact of a known active case.

· A male in his 50s. This case is under investigation.

· A male in his 40s. He is a close contact of a known active case.

· A male in his 20s. His source of exposure is unknown.

Harvey County currently has 41 active COVID cases with one patient still hospitalized.
