A state board has rejected a proposal for delayed start times for fall sports at Kansas high schools.
The executive board for the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) met online Tuesday afternoon and voted 5-4 against a schedule for delayed start times for football and other sports activities. That means that practices will start as scheduled on August 17th and competitions will start on their scheduled dates. High school football games will start on September 4th.
Because of concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, some larger school districts, including Wichita, have decided to delay the start of classes until after the Labor Day holiday. That would have classes starting September 8th or later.
