Sedgwick County commissioners and officials with Fire District 1 held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday to begin construction on a new fire station in Andale.
The new facility will replace the current Station 31. It will be 10,000 square feet, with four bays to hold public safety vehicles. The current facility is 2,400 square feet and only has one bay, with some vehicles having to be stored outside.
The new station will more accessible at 6331 North 247th Street West. It should be completed in May, 2021 and the construction cost is around $2 million.
