Star Spangled Salute: A Wichita Native on the Front Lines of the Navy’s Fight Against the Coronavirus

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors 2019 Campus Grad and Hospitalman Apprentice Jadyn Busby of Wichita.  As a hospital Corpsman working at Navy Medical Readiness and Training Command Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Jadyn has a set of skill that are crucial to maintaining the health of sailors in the Caribbean.  This includes the readiness of the Navy’s operational ships and submarines on which they serve. Jadyn credits growing up in an area that taught her a sense of community which she’s been able to rely on during these challenging times.  In case you were wondering, U.S. Navy Medicine is the most decorated career field in the Navy. Navy Hospital Corpsmen have earned 22 Medals of Honor, 179 Navy Crosses, 959 Silver Stars and more than 1,600 Bronze Stars. Twenty ships have been named in honor of corpsmen. Thank you for your service Jadyn.
