A Wichita man pled guilty to charges related to the deaths of two girls in 1999 and gave information about where the girl’s bodies may have been hidden.

Ronnie Busick is last surviving suspect in the disappearance of Lauria Bible and Ashley Freeman, and the deaths of Freeman’s parents and the burning of their home. The girls disappeared from the Freeman home in Welch, Oklahoma, while celebrating Ashley Freeman’s 16th birthday.

Over the years, investigators had received information that that suggested the girls were dumped in a mine or pit in Picher, Oklahoma,  or in a root cellar that was later filled with concrete.

Busick provided new details after his arrest in 2018, which led to a new search today that is focused on the potential excavation of a root cellar.

Members of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Quapaw Tribe, and multiple other agencies are taking part in the renewed search.

The Craig County District Attorney’s Office will be onsite to provide updates as the search goes on, though cell service in the area is lacking so updates may be sporadic.  Check back for updates throughout the day.
