Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Marine Veteran Travis Scott who is honoring other Veterans by walking across Michigan. Travis served in Afghanistan as a corporal from 2017 to 2018 and lost a friend and fellow Veteran about a year ago. So, he started walking. Last year he walked 800-miles in honor of the 22 Veterans who are lost each day to suicide. This year, his walk takes him from Holland to Mackinaw City in Michigan. He’s partnered with Mission 22, an organization working to prevent suicides in the veteran community nationwide and help raise awareness of the resources that are available.
