Wichita’s young students can return to classrooms, older kids to stay online

Wichita’s Board of Education voted to use a mix of online and in-person options as school starts back up.

For at least the first nine weeks of class, Pre-K through 5th grade students can return to classrooms, or use the MySchool online learning option. Middle and high school students are being restricted to online classes only. This means fall sports have been cancelled. Other activities will continue remotely where possible.

A committee was put together to monitor the COVID-19 situation and make proposals for changes depending on new case rates in Sedgwick County. The nine week plan may be extended or shortened if cases were to spike or fall off.

More details can be found on the district’s website.
