Sedgwick County offering free COVID tests to teachers

Starting Monday, August 31, Sedgwick County is offering free COVID-19 tests to teachers who are returning to classrooms.

This is only being offered for Pre-K through 12th grade teachers, and does not cover people who are returning to teach at colleges or tech schools. Teachers in Sedgwick County who want to get tested may do so once a week, regardless of symptoms. Appointments will need to be made for the county’s drive through site, at Central and Edgemoor. This is open from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. Teachers can call 211 to set up an appointment and efforts will be made to schedule a test for the following day.

This test will only show if a person has COVID-19, not if they’ve had it in the past and recovered.

People who are not teachers can still get tested if they’re showing symptoms of COVID-19. Appointments will still need to made by calling 211. Appointment are not required at mobile testing labs. The next mobile testing site will be at the Bridge Church on Monday, August 31, at 13th and Grove.

More details on COVID-19 testing for teachers can be found below.
