Kansas health officials rethinking decision to identify COVID-19 clusters

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is reassessing its decision to identify the locations of coronavirus clusters.

In a statement Wednesday, the department said it has received positive and negative feedback on the decision.    KDHE secretary Lee Norman said the decision was based on transparency and the desire to give Kansans information to help them make informed decisions.

KDHE did not release locations of active clusters on Wednesday, and the department issued a statement saying it will take the feedback it has received and look at ways to report the information in a way that reflects current COVID-19 case increases.   The department said it expects to release cluster locations again next Wednesday, September 23rd.

The state was reporting 50,870 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday with 586 deaths.
