Sedgwick County recruiting poll workers October 3

The Sedgwick County Election Office is holding a poll worker recruitment event on Saturday, October 3.

If you are interested in learning about the process, you can attend one of two events taking place next weekend. Both are at the Sedgwick County Courthouse, at 525 N. Main, in the first floor jury room. Sessions run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and you only need to attend one.

Applicants only need to provide a social security number, and attend one of the sessions. In order to be a poll worker, you’ll have to be registered to vote in Sedgwick County, and available to work on November 3. Hours run from 4:45 a.m. to 9 p.m., or until polls have fully closed. Multiple shifts are available. 16 and 17-year-olds can be eligible to work at a polling site, and long as age is only thing keeping them from voting.

Poll workers are paid for the hours they work and for their time to complete any required training. Compensation runs from $9.50 to $12 an hour.

If you plan on attending the recruitment event on October 3, you are asked to use the north employee entrance at the courthouse. Masks will have to be worn and social distancing will be enforced.

You can also fill out an application online if you can’t make it to the October 3 event. Follow the link below for more information and for the online application.
