A former Wichita school board member has died after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
Mike Kinard was 58. He was on the school board from 2001 to 2005, and served as president in 2003 and 2004.
Kinard was a local photographer who worked to document a number of events for the Black community in Wichita. He was a candidate for a number of public offices in Wichita and Sedgwick County over the past two decades.
