Sedgwick County is making some improvement to an intersection that was the site of a fatal crash on September 25.

32-year-old Jessica Noel and her four kids were killed when a grain track ran a stop sign at the intersection of 263rd West and 71st South. The intersection has also been the site over several serious crashes over the past few years.

The intersection had rumble strips at one point, but they had worn away. New strips have already been put in. Sedgwick County Commissioner, David Dennis, said he wanted red flashing lights added to the intersection. The lights have been ordered and should be installed within the next week.

At the moment, the intersection only has a two-way stop for east and westbound lanes of traffic. Dennis talked about potentially changing the intersection to a four-way stop.
