Police have arrested a 59-year-old Wichita man on a charge of criminal threat after reports that he was making threatening statements toward Mayor Brandon Whipple.
Police said the man was arrested Friday afternoon after investigators looked into the threats. No details were released, but Whipple told our news partners at KWCH that he believed the threats were related to actions taken by the city to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Police are still investigating the threats, and information will be turned over to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for a decision on formal charges.
