Wichita area schools can exempt kindergarteners from masks

A new amendment to Sedgwick County’s health order lets individual schools decide if their kindergarten students will have to wear masks.

This amendment was announced Wednesday morning, and will take effect when the new health order kicks in, on October 22. No other changes to the order have been announced so far. All other mask requirements and exemptions will still be in place. The order has always exempted kids 5-year-old or younger from having to wear masks. In particular, it advises against having kids 2-years-old or younger wear masks because of a suffocation hazard.
