Wichita man shot at football game ID’d, season cancelled

A 31-year-old man was fatally shot during a youth football game Wednesday night in northeast Wichita.

This happened around 10 p.m., at the Stryker Sports Complex, close to 29th and Greenwich. The shooting happened in the parking lot, and police said it was the result of an argument between the victim and another man.   The victim was identified as Marquell Nolan, and police said the shooting appeared to be the result of an ongoing dispute that was not related to the games played at the complex.

Police released surveillance photos of a man dressed in yellow athletic clothing, and the man left a yellow sneaker behind.  He is believed to be the suspect in the shooting.  Anyone with information is urged to contact the police homicide division at 268-4407, Crime Stoppers at 267-2111 or the See Something Say Something hotline, 519-2282.   Police are asking anyone who may have caught the man on cell phone video to contact them.

The group behind Wichita’s youth football league announced the rest of the season has been cancelled.
