The Kansas Department of Labor is warning about a fraudulent SMS phishing attempt that people are getting in text messages.
The message seen above is not from KDOL and people are urged to avoid clicking on any links with the message. The message should be deleted immediately.
KDOL officials say they will never ask for a full Social Security number by text message or email. The agency is working with law enforcement to investigate the texts. The agency has reported an increase in identity theft cases related to unemployment claims.
Anyone who has been a victim or knows of someone who has been a victim of this scam should report it at www.ReportFraud.ks.gov
