Texas man sentenced to life for 2018 murders of Wichita couple

A Texas man will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole for 100 years for the murders of a Wichita couple.

37-year-old Rusty Lee Frasier of Aransas Pass, Texas was sentenced in Barton County District Court.    He was convicted in the July, 2018 murders of 78-year-old Alfred “Sonny” Carpenter and 79-year-old Pauline Carpenter, who disappeared from the Barton County Fair after working as vendors.   Their bodies were found later in northwest Arkansas.

Frasier was given life without the possibility of parole for 50 years on each of two counts of first degree murder, and the sentences will run consecutively.

Two other suspects have also been sentenced in the case.   40-year-old Christine Tenney of La Marque, Texas was sentenced to 59 months in prison for aggravated robbery, along with an eight-month sentence for obstructing apprehension.   The sentences will run concurrently.    56-year-old Michael Fowler, Jr. of Sarasota, Florida was previously sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 100 years.

Charges against a fourth person are pending in connection with the case.
