Kansas State University has canceled its fall commencement set for this weekend as the coronavirus outbreak worsens on campus and across the state.
The Manhattan Mercury reports that university officials announced the cancellation Tuesday morning. The graduation events in Manhattan and Salina had been scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The university instead will hold a virtual commencement in December and will release details on that event at a later date.
KSU President Richard Myers said in a written statement that hundreds of new cases announced in both communities in recent days led university officials to consult with county health departments and the decision to cancel the ceremonies.
