Two arrested after chase on Kansas Turnpike in Sumner County

Law enforcement officers took two people into custody after a chase on the Kansas Turnpike in Sumner County Friday morning.

There was a report of a car that was stolen in Braman, Oklahoma around 10 a.m. and it was heading north on the Turnpike into Kansas.  The owner of the car followed in another vehicle, and the suspects fired shots at him, but he was not hit.   The car turned around and went south on the Turnpike, then stopped near Highway 166.   The two suspects got out of the car and ran east into a field.

Law enforcement officers converged on the area and took the two into custody, and they were taken to the Sumner County jail.

The search involved Kansas Highway Patrol troopers,Cowley County deputies, Kay County, Oklahoma deputies, police from Caldwell, Belle Plaine, Wellington and officers from Blackwell, Oklahoma.
