Wichita police took a man into custody after a Christmas Day car theft. A one-year-old boy was inside the car when it was taken from a gas station in the 2000 block of South Oliver.
Police Chief Gordon Ramsay said in a post on Twitter that a license plate reading device helped officers track the car to the 2300 block of South Terrace. The child was found safe and the suspect was arrested.
Police urge residents not to leave their cars running unattended. They’re also urging people to look out for friends and neighbors and report any suspicious activity to 911.
