A 46-year-old man is in jail after a short police chase Saturday evening.

Wichita police say a stolen Chevy Silverado was spotted near Pawnee and I-135, and an officer tried to pull the driver over near Kellogg and Seneca. Police say the driver refused to stop and led police on a short chase to the north, before hitting a utility pole at Texas and Handley, just east of Douglas and Seneca. This is about a half-mile from where the chase started.

The driver was not hurt in the crash and was arrested at the scene. He was booked for flee and elude, criminal deprivation of property, possession of paraphernalia, and a U.S. Marshal’s Service warrant.

A 57-year-old woman in the truck was not hurt and was not arrested.

The truck involved in this case had been reported stolen on Friday, from the 1400 block of South Main.
