Wichita State University’s new coronavirus testing lab is working with the Kansas state capitol to keep government operations functioning during the pandemic.

The Molecular Diagnostics Lab has been processing thousands of COVID-19 tests each week for state employees and visitors at the Statehouse in Topeka.  The people being tested include legislators, staff, media, lobbyists and conferees.

Kansas Senate president Ty Masterson said in a press release that he appreciates the work of the MDL to help keep the legislative community healthy while they work on the state’s business.

The MDL has worked with and trained more than 500 organizations, schools, health care facilities and businesses throughout the region to collect COVID-19 specimens for testing.   The test results are generally available within 24 hours.
