Kansas health officials expect to know later in the week if the state will be ready to move into phase two of the plan to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine.
Kansas Department of Health and Environment Secretary Lee Norman said Tuesday that the state will have two shipments going out this week for first and second doses for health care workers covered under phase one. He said some counties are ready to go into phase two, but there will be formal announcements to move everyone into phase two at the same time.
Phase two will include people 65 and older, and high-contact critical workers such as law enforcement officers.
Dr. Norman made the comments Tuesday during an online presentation with the University of Kansas Health System.
