Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple issued a statement on social media after the inauguration of Joe Biden as the nation’s 46th President:
As Americans, we walk by faith, not by sight. That faith has been tested, yet our Constitution, our people & our calling to pursue a more perfect union has prevailed. May we never take our traditions & freedom for granted!
Wichita Vice-Mayor Brandon Johnson made comments on Twitter during the inauguration, saying “I didn’t realize the relief I would feel after seeing our new President take office.”
I do hope electeds in Congress truly spend time together building relationships and working together for the betterment of America. I hope they stop worrying about what some will say if they work across the political isle and just do it.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly also issued a statement on Twitter:
On January 20, 1953, Kansans celebrated as Dwight Eisenhower became our 34th President. While this year’s inauguration looks different, today we celebrate the historic inauguration of @JoeBiden & @KamalaHarris. I look forward to working with them to deliver results for Kansans.
