Kansas senators call for continued work on Keystone XL pipeline

Kansas Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall are working on a bill to authorize the continued construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would run through Kansas to carry oil from Canada to Texas.

President Biden has signed an executive order to revoke the cross-border operation permit for construction of the pipeline.

Marshall plans to introduce a bill to allow the continued construction of the pipeline, along with Moran, Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe, Wyoming Senator John Barrasso and several other senators from western states.    Marshall said the decision by President Biden will drive up the price of gasoline, cost thousands of jobs, and put the country back on a path to dependence on foreign oil.

The Kansas Republican Party said Biden’s decision would cost 11,000 American jobs and would also lead to an increase of 42 percent in carbon emissions.
