Federal mask order now in effect for airports

The City of Wichita is reminding travelers about a new federal mask order that is now in place at airports and ground transportation facilities across the country.  The order will include Eisenhower National Airport in Wichita.

The Centers for Disease Control developed the mask order and it was put into effect with an Executive Order issued by President Biden.   It requires wearing a mask at all times in and on airport grounds.  The order includes the terminal, rental car customer service centers and onboard the aircraft.   Refusing to wear a mask is a violation of federal law.

The directive has three exemptions:

·         Children under the age of two.

·         People with disabilities who cannot wear a mask or who cannot safely wear a mask because of the disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

·         People for whom wearing a mask would create a risk to workplace health, safety or job duty as determined by the relevant workplace safety          guidelines or federal requirements.
