Two firefighters were taken to a hospital with burn injuries after a fire Saturday evening at a duplex in Bel Aire.

The fire broke out around 8:45 p.m. in the 7400 block of East Summerside Place, in a neighborhood near 45th Street North and Rock Road.   Wichita and Sedgwick County crews saw flames coming from the building when they arrived, and they had to take a defensive posture and stay outside the home to battle the fire.

No one was inside the duplex at the time, but two pets died in the fire.   Two firefighters were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, and they were treated and released.   No civilians were injured.
