Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Christy Lucas and Vic Roe.  Christy spent 17 years as an educator and then one day gave it all up to answer what she refers to as a calling.  She wanted to devote herself to those who served our country so she launched a charity called Roots for Boots. In her hometown every month, Roots for Boots hosts a food drive at the local VFW.  When it started, it helped about 8 Veterans in need, now that number has grown to almost 90 and so has the number of volunteers to help. One disabled Veteran, Vic Roe said Christy is an angel.  A Desert Storm Veteran, Vic said Christy built a ramp to help him get around easier and now he gets out and talks to people when he would normally just be sitting around the house. Christy says what she does is more than a food bank, it’s something that restores hope.  Thank you Christy for your kindness and THANK YOU Vic for your service.
