Sedgwick County to reduce hours at main COVID-19 vaccine clinic

The Sedgwick County Health Department will be reducing the hours of operation for the county’s main COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the former downtown library in Wichita.

The new hours will go into effect Monday, May 10th, and they will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The county continues to offer the Pfizer vaccine to anyone 18 and older, and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is available by appointment to anyone 18 and older.   For the Pfizer vaccine, walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is necessary.   Appointments are available for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for Thursday, May 6th.  Beginning May 10th, appointments will be available daily as the supply allows.

People can make appointments for the Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccines through the county’s web site at https://www.sedgwickcounty.org/covid-19/vaccine/schedule  or by calling 660-1029.

As of May 4th, the Health Department has administered more than 209,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

On Wednesday, the county reported an additional 56 cases of COVID-19 for a total of 47,440 for the pandemic.   No new deaths were reported, and the county’s death toll remains at 612.   The county’s positive testing rate has moved up in recent weeks, and it was at 5 percent on Wednesday.

The state of Kansas reported 470 new cases from Monday, for a total of 310,115 cases for the pandemic.  There were 14 new deaths to bring the state total to 4,999.
