Wind Surge wins opening game of its first season

The Wichita Wind Surge won its very first game Tuesday night with a 2-0 victory against the Springfield Cardinals.

Damak Tomscha scored the first run for the Wind Surge and Andrew Bechtold added the second run.   Tom Hackimer pitched two innings to get the win and Yennier Cano had a scoreless ninth inning for the save.   Four pitchers delivered a shutout.

The attendance for the game in Springfield, Missouri was 2,092 with limited capacity.   The Wind Surge will continue the six-game road trip in Springfield on Wednesday.

The Wind Surge will have its first home game at Wichita’s Riverfront Stadium on May 11th against Amarillo.
