Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Private First Class Robert Lee Sterling and Officer Newman Brazier.  Robert, served in the 92nd Division of the Buffalo Soldiers, one of the few Black men to fight in the Pacific in World War II.  He died at the age of 100 and was recently laid to rest.  On his way in the hearse to his final resting place, Officer Newman Brazier of the local Police Department, stood outside he patrol car, in a driving rain, and saluted the casket as it went by, to pay his last respects to this hero.  Unaware he was being filmed and of the attention it would later get him, Newman said he wanted to make a point to let everyone in that area know that Robert was there, he was passing through, even if it was for the last time.  Thank you Newman for this special moment and THANK YOU Robert for your service.
