KDHE Issues Order of Suspension to Winfield Daycare Center

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued an Emergency Order of Suspension to the Fairytale Friends Daycare in Winfield.

According to the suspension order, a child at the facility observed a “licensee” engaged in “improper conduct” while caring for children at the daycare center.

The KDHE began an investigation on July 26th and found that the licensee was not home and three adults were caring for the children who had not submitted background checks. The order added that they home was not clean or well-maintained. It said that trash and various hazards were accessible to children, and that another room in the house had not been approved for fire safety.

The order of suspension is subject to appeal. State law allows the Secretary of the KDHE to issue a suspension when deemed necessary to protect children from potential threats to health and safety.
