Star Spangled Salute: Navy Veteran Beats The Odds To Compete in A Pageant

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Navy Veteran Arlena Johnson.  Just 2 years ago, Arlena couldn’t put any weight on her feet, let alone move them.  She really only had the use of her hands.  At the age of 30, she was diagnosed with a central nervous system disorder known as NMO.  Doctors told her she had 6 months to live and a 1% chance of ever walking again.  That was in 2017, now in 2021 Arlena has remastered walking, even retraining herself to walk in high heels which will be important as she gets ready to compete in a pageant aimed to show the woman behind the uniform that served 7 years in the Navy.  Thank you for the inspiration Arlena and THANK YOU for your service.
