Motorcycle rider killed in south Wichita crash

A 49-year-old man was killed in an overnight motorcycle crash, near 31st South and Tyler.

Airport Police were doing routine checks and found wrecked motorcycle, then the rider. Wichita Police were called out around 2:40 a.m. Friday, and arriving EMTs pronounced the rider dead at the scene.

Police report the rider was heading north when he went off the road, hit a culvert, and was thrown from the bike. Investigators have suggested speed and high winds may have played a role in the crash.

The rider’s name has not been made public.
