A Valley Center man was given three years probation Tuesday for a 2018 crash that killed an off-duty Wichita police officer and the officer’s son.
39-year-old James Dalrymple pleaded guilty in September to two counts of involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence. Sedgwick County judge Jeffrey Syrios said during a sentencing hearing that defense attorneys and prosecutors agreed to 36 months probation. If Dalrymple violates the probation, he could get up to 112 months in prison.
Police said Dalrymple’s pickup collided with a motorcycle in April, 2018 at the intersection of 21st Street North and 167th Street West. Officer Stacy Woodson and his ten-year-old son Braeden were killed in the crash.
