The Star Spangled Salute is presented by

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Army Veteran Chris Videau.  The first time he saw a burn pit, was while he was serving in Iraq.  The trash burned 24-7, generating thick, black smoke that invaded the camp all day.  Chris couldn’t understand why this crude method of disposal was still being used. All that black smoke, the effect on the environment, the effect it was having on his health, it just didn’t make sense.  Chris is just one of tens of thousand returning from deployment with health issues that can be attributed to these burn pits and more specifically single use plastics.  That was 2007, this year, Chris and his business partner appeared on Shark Tank to pitch their idea, Sheets Laundry Club.  Sheets of laundry detergent that dissolve in the washer and don’t require big bulky packaging and greatly reduces the use of plastics.
