HumanKind Shelters to Remain Open Despite COVID Surge, Isolation Site for Positive Cases Created

As rising COVID rates drive many homeless shelters and service providers to close their doors in order to safeguard the health of existing clients, HumanKind Ministries is doing all it can to remain open to new clients.

Currently, HumanKind’s Men’s and Women’s Emergency Winter Shelters, and The Inn are the only shelters open to new clients in Wichita. HumanKind is opening a designated COVID-19 isolation site in the Community Room at 848 N. Market. HumanKind will continue operation of the Men’s and Women’s Emergency Shelters at 841 N. Market.

Those in need of shelter who have tested positive for COVID-19 must provide a positive test result or another agency must confirm a positive test result to be admitted.

The Inn, HumanKind’s year-round shelter, is currently accepting new clients who can provide proof of negative COVID test within 24 hours and existing clients are sheltering
in place.

To limit exposure, HumanKind is not currently hosting in-person meetings or tours and is not accepting visitors without an appointment.

Those interesting in volunteering should email brie@humankindwichita.org.
