Star Spangled Salute: A Veteran Stays Active

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Vietnam Veteran Bill Miller.  Miller completed 2 honorable tours of duty, one with the Navy the other with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.  When he was done he knew he couldn’t just sit still.  Bill said, “I wasn’t ready to sit back and watch soap operas”.  So, he started volunteering aboard the USS Lexington.  Nicknamed “The Blue Ghost”, the Lexington is at a permanent birth in Corpus Christi, TX and Bill loves giving tours telling how Japan tried 4 times unsuccessfully to sink her in World War II.  Bill jokes that the volunteer job as a tour guide helps keep his sanity.  It also helps keep him stay fit while he inspires other Veterans to volunteer and do the same. Thank you Bill for your encouragement and THANK YOU for your service.
