One day ahead of the start of Black History Month, today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Vietnam Veteran Retired Col. Richard “Dick” Toliver.  Dick is a “Top Gun” fighter pilot and one of the best Tuskegee Airmen to ever fly a plane.  After 26 years of service that included over 400 combat missions and two tours in Southeast Asia, Dick retired from the Air Force.  Dick knew he wanted to be in the Air Force and fly planes at a very young age.  He was lucky enough to be one one of the first African-American pilots to fly the F-4 Phantom jet. In his retirement, he’s written several books, opened an Arizona Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen Inc and lead a petition to Congress to award 300 surviving members of the Tuskegee Airmen the Congressional Gold Medal.  Congratulations on all your accomplishments Dick and THANK YOU for your service.
