Newton police are warning residents about some Facebook posts that have been shared in some public groups, warning of dangerous criminals on the loose.
Police said the posts are fake, and the original profiles used on the posts are from Zimbabwe. The same post is being reported in communities across the U.S.
Newton police said on their own Facebook page that they are unsure of the purpose behind the false posts, but when posts like this are shared they will create panic and fear in the community. Anyone with questions about such a post can contact local police to confirm it.
