Parents Plead Guilty In Death of 2-Year Old Boy in South Wichita

The parents of a 2-year-old boy who was found dead in a mobile home in South Wichita could face more than 26 years in prison.

Brandi Marchant and Patrick Javonovich each pleaded guilty to aggravated kidnapping, second-degree murder and child abuse.

Officers responded to the mobile home in the 4500 block of South Hydraulic on April 11th, 2019 on domestic violence call. There they found 2-year-old Zaiden Javonovich unresponsive in a playpen.

The official police report said Zaiden wasn’t breathing, didn’t have a pulse, and that he had contusions and abrasions on his head, face and body.

Officers also found a four-month-old baby in the home. The infant was taken to a Wichita hospital in critical condition in critical condition, where it received treatment for unspecified injuries.

An autopsy revealed Zaiden’s cause of death to be dehydration and malnutrition and was ruled a homicide. The report also said that child weighed less than 15 pounds at the time of his death.

Marchant and Javonovich were subsequently arrested and were initially charged with first-degree murder, child abuse and aggravated child endangerment.
