Queen Elizabeth was laid to rest following more than a week of mourning across the United Kingdom and the world. It happened in a private ceremony at Windsor Castle. Her burial comes after a funeral service which was later followed by a committal service. During the latter event, the Dean of Windsor said her “profound Christian faith bore so much fruit.”

The Dean also noted her “calm and dignified presence.” After the service, her coffin was lowered into the Royal Vault.

Queen Elizabeth the Second’s funeral was held at Westminster Abbey as members of the Royal Family joined mourners, including various heads of state, in paying their respects at Westminster Abbey. Speaking during today’s somber ceremony, the leader of the Church of England, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, said “few leaders receive the outpouring of love” that has been shown for Queen Elizabeth.

After the service, the coffin was taken in a procession to Windsor Castle and then made its final journey up the Long Walk.  The Queen’s favorite horse Emma and two of her corgis were seen as the procession passed through.
